The
materials that form the basis for Sloan Museums exhibits
and educational programs are located at the heart of the museum.
There are more than 100,000 artifacts in our collection. Items
in the collections department range from prehistoric stone
implements to antique textiles and prototype automobiles.
We are also home
to the Perry Archives, which house an extensive collection
of photographs and papers that document Flint and Genesee
Countys rich history since 1835. A collection of Buick
engineering papers, service manuals and sales literature are
a help to the car restorer, and local cemetery and funeral
home records are used by the genealogists regularly. The archives
are not open to the public, but researchers can view the information
in our reading room by appointment by calling (810) 237-3440.
Volunteers from the Flint Genealogical Society are available
to assist researchers on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. |
